Introduction
A visual brief allows you to annotate an asset uploaded either from your desktop or linked from library without revising the existing asset. This makes it easier to explain requirements, particularly when you need to adapt something existing for another variant or market. Visual briefs are created by including an Upload Visual Brief task followed by a Visual Brief Review in an activity template.
Note: if you want to revise the asset instead, you would need to do this via Asset Upload tasks instead of Visual Briefs to ensure a full audit history is kept.
Uploading and Reviewing Visual Briefs
1. The assignee will receive an ‘Upload Visual Brief’ task.
2. You can choose to upload an asset from your desktop or link an existing asset from a Library in e-flow.
If you select a file from a Library as your visual brief, it will create a copy of that asset to use as a visual reference for the artwork you want to create. The file you pick will remain intact in its original library. No changes will be made to it as a result of using an asset as a visual brief.
3. The asset's classification will default to 'Visual Brief Asset'.
4. Once the Visual Brief Asset is uploaded (as with any other e-flow asset), it will be found in the ‘Assets’ tab of the activity:
5. Next, the assigned user will be asked to annotate the asset via a Review Visual Brief task using the Online Approval Tool.
6. After the user has annotated any changes required and selects 'Complete', there will be no requirement to give a verdict or a rejection reason as the artwork is simply being used as a visual aid.
Tip: you can compare the visual brief asset with other assets uploaded to the Activity in the Online Approval Tool. (Please see our guide on comparing assets).
Note: anyone wishing to make use of the visual brief feature will need this configuring in their workflows by our Professional Services team who can scope how this will fit within your processes and workflows.
